John Faulkner, 45th Civil Engineer Squadron deputy, helped with the release of the Juvenile red-shouldered hawk Jan. 26, 2017, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The hawk was found near the Trident Basin Dec. 8, 2016, unable to fly and was then transported to the Florida Wildlife Hospital where they discovered he had two detached retinas. Staff Sgt. Stafford Hampton II, 45th Civil Engineer Squadron structural craftsman, used his Air Force Self-Aid Buddy Care skills to help save his friend’s life after he collapsed during his morning workout at a fitness center Jan. 26, 2017, in Satellite Beach, outside of Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. The U.S. Air Force’s 45th Space Wing supported the successful SpaceX Falcon 9 ABS/Eutelsat-2 launch June 15, 2016, at 10:29 a.m. ET from Launch Complex 40 Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. A combined team of military, government civilians and contractors from across the 45th Space Wing supported the mission with weather forecasts, launch and range operations, security, safety and public affairs. The wing also provided its vast network of radar, telemetry and communications instrumentation to facilitate a safe launch on the Eastern Range. The 45th Space Wing’s performance throughout 2016 can be summed up in one word "amazing!" Supporting 23 launches, returning to operations 2 days, 13 hours and 43 minutes after Hurricane Matthew pelted our bases and ensuring the safety of the Eastern Range during a static fire anomaly are just a of the few milestones we achieved.
