Members of the 45th Space Wing Weather Squadron met with Lake Nona High School students at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. May 23, 2016, to discuss their Lightning Launch Commit Criteria (LLCC) findings and results in regards to weather and climatology. Prior to the school year, Bill Roeder, 45th Space Wing Weather Squadron meteorologist, reached out to the high school and introduced them to the project. The project provides students with real-world experience by following a business model of preparation, set-up, and using innovative methods to complete it. During the visit, the students also met with leadership and toured the Morrell Operations Center. Participants had three options for this unique Wing Run. Options included: a 5K run in Air Force physical training gear, a 2-Mile Ruck March in ABUs with ruck weight, or a 5K Ruck March in ABUs. The 45th Security Forces Squadron held an open house at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., May 18, 2016, during National Police Week, to honor all law enforcement and first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The 45th Security Forces Squadron held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil an upgraded military working dog obedience yard at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., May 11, 2016.The ceremony included a military working dog demonstration and featured Chiefs of Police and local law enforcement K-9 officers from across Brevard County. Among the upgrades include a canopy which lowers the temperature 10 to 20 degrees and keeps the team training year-round all while reducing the impact of rain, sun and heat on our training operations.
