John Faulkner, 45th Civil Engineer Squadron deputy, helped with the release of the Juvenile red-shouldered hawk Jan. 26, 2017, at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The hawk was found near the Trident Basin Dec. 8, 2016, unable to fly and was then transported to the Florida Wildlife Hospital where they discovered he had two detached retinas. A combined team of military, government civilians and contractors from across the 45th Space Wing supported the mission with weather forecasts, launch and range operations, security, safety and public affairs.  The wing also provided its vast network of radar, telemetry and communications instrumentation to facilitate a safe launch on the Eastern Range.
