2/4/2013 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Youth Programs and the Family Advocacy Office are joining to host an informational presentation about teen dating violence, Feb. 5 at 4:30 p.m. at Youth Programs Bldg. 3656.

Both teens and their parents are invited to attend the event, which is part of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February.

The event includes a presentation from Lori Sutherland, a violence prevention educator at The Women's Center, and a short film to help teens see the warning signs of dating violence. The presentation will end with a question and answer session and light refreshments.

The presentation is designed to help teens and their parents detect early signs associated with dating violence.

"I think this event can offer them information on how to have healthy relationships," said Susan Thompson, Family Advocacy intervention specialist here. "Often, violence happens subtly and over time. It doesn't happen all at once. If we teach teens and their parents to see the subtle things, they can be more aware."

The event is open to active duty members, DoD civilians, contractors and their dependents. For more information contact Family Advocacy at (321) 494-8171.
