3/4/2013 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.  -- Patrick Air Force Base closed out Black History Month with a bang! Events such as 2nd Annual Fish Fry held on Feb. 8, Open Mic and Rhythm and Blues Night held on Feb. 15, and Gospel Extravaganza held on Feb. 23 were hosted by the Black History Month Committee at places anyone in the community could attend, the South Chapel and the Tides.

The Black History Month events were held to honor the figures of the past that have had an impact on the community.

Contributors such as artists from both Patrick AFB and the local community gave to the Black culture with poetry, cultural stories and gospel music, reminding us of our history and traditions while giving us the knowledge and enthusiasm to continue to keep them alive.

The Committee was very pleased to have been able to get the volunteers that came out and supported them.

"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly."
