8/26/2014 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Senior Airman Dareena Clark, Air Force Technical Applications Center mail operation center technician, was selected for Shark of the Week.

Tech. Sgt. Christian Fridge, AFTAC section chief, nominated Clark because she helped with an Air Force pilot program that changed the careers of more than 5,000 Airmen.

"Due to minimal manning she expedited training for the new mail operations shop chief," Fridge said. "She managed more than $27,000 dollars in classified mail and kept 20,000 pounds of vital packages safe."

As the mail center expert, she trained 92 technicians on package handling procedures reducing package send-backs by 15 percent. Clark revamped the SharePoint website and established 32 new standards for delivering mail on time, all while earning 10 college credits and completing 12 hours of Air Force Specialty training.

Name: Dareena Clark
Time in service: 7 years, 4 months
Hometown: Inglewood, California
Motto: "Awesome Lawesome" and "Teamwork makes the dream work"

Hobbies/Interests: When I'm not working hard at AFTAC, on my free time I'm a hair stylist by night. I completed hair school while stationed at Scott AFB, Illinois. It's not only extra income but I get to meet new people from Patrick AFB and within the city.

Why do you serve: I wanted to follow my brother and my twin sister's steps by serving our country. It's definitely a great accomplishment for our family. I enjoy deploying, traveling and networking with my fellow Airmen all over the country.

How do you support the mission: I supervise the AFTAC's postal operations and provide technical expertise supporting the DOD's sole nuclear treaty monitoring agency. I also manage delivery and collection of official and accountable mail from the U.S. Postal Service and base official mail center.
