PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --
Over 20 Airmen gathered in the base Passenger Terminal July 17, 2018, at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., for a pre-deployment function line to streamline out-processing for Airmen preparing to deploy.
The purpose of the line is to quicken and smooth the deployment process for large groups of departing Airmen, as well as saving time for base agencies who come to brief the deployers. Some of the agencies included the legal office, the chapel, finance and the medical group.
“This is the first time we’ve used a pre-deployment line since 2016,” said Tech. Sgt. Christopher Reeves, the noncommissioned officer in charge of installation personnel readiness. “Of course we’re used to Airmen deploying, but this was a big group – we wanted to implement the PDF line so things went quicker and smoother for our people.”
Airmen make their way through the line to discuss public health records, immunizations, finances, legal documents, eligibility and religious preferences, as well as receiving the opportunity to talk to a chaplain or chaplain’s assistant.
Col. Kevin Williams, 45th Mission Support Group commander, as well as Maj. Elizabeth Cramer, 45th Force Support Squadron commander, stopped by the terminal to see the line in action and see what goes into being an agency in the line.
“Support from leadership, as well as from fellow Airmen on base who assist in the pre-deployment process, is crucial,” said Reeves. “Our men and women are about to leave their homes and their families behind, it’s great having the opportunity to make things a bit easier for them on their way out.”
